Dr. Jeff Schmidt was born and raised in Northern California.  From a young age he was involved in animal care, volunteering at local rescues and the town's nature center.  After graduating high school he went to UC San Diego where he majored in Animal Physiology & Neuroscience.  This is also where he met his wife of 15 years Meara Schmidt.  After UCSD they moved to Davis, CA where Dr. Schmidt went to Veterinary School and Meara worked at the animal science department.  He graduated in 2011 and they slowly made their way back to Southern California, adding to their family on the way.   

Dr. Schmidt has spent most of his career in both general practitioner and critical care environments and has a special interest in internal medicine and surgery.  He is comfortable with routine wellness, complicated work-ups and urgent care.  He is always available to answer your questions and understands that good communication is crucial to patient health.

In his free time Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his wife and two human children, Aedan and Makaela, along with his furry children (3 dogs and 3 cats).  He also enjoys going to the movies, going out to dinner and especially loves visiting the San Diego Zoo.  Trips to visit his parents in Julian are common as well.  Since moving to Temecula in 2021 Dr. Schmidt has enjoyed getting to know this beautiful area and is thrilled to have joined the team at Murrieta Oaks.
